Our tail fan sets are created to give the full illusion of a real tail and not just a set of
feathers thrown together. After selecting the best feathers available, the set is carefully
shaped, and trimmed several times to create a full, 3-D tail. Once shaped, the feathers are
individually hand-painted as a matching set of feathers to appear as though they came
from the same bird. The use of detailed reference photos helps us create the most realistic
tail sets possible.
Tail sets utilize our specially dyed feathers to keep them soft, not stiff like painted
feathers, or are created from natural feathers that mimic those of a raptor. Sets can include
5, 7, 9 or a full tail of 12 feathers. Though a real tail set would have a full 12 feathers, an
even number, we know that many of our customers are looking for an odd number in
order to have a 'center' feather. This still makes a stunning fan set and the illusion of
realism isn't lost since we still work to match the set as if they came off a real bird.

feather is white with a bit of dark brown
coloring on the edges.

Ferruginous Hawk
The Ferruginous Hawk is
indigenous to the Midwest
U.S.
The feathers can vary
greatly but often appear as
a smaller version of
immature Bald Eagle. This
unique set is created from
natural turkey feathers
and are not painted.
Such feathers are very
difficult to locate making
this one stand out. Others
will be available on a
limited supply so get this
one while it lasts.

Redtail Hawk
After extensive experimentation I have developed a
fine dye for imitating the Redtail Hawk tail feathers.
This dye leaves the feathers soft and supple,
practically indistinguishable from the real McCoy.
